IRS2Go and Direct Pay for Taxes
In order to help the taxpayer, the IRS has developed a service that makes it much more convenient to pay taxes. Introducing Direct Pay. This service allows the taxpayer to pay a tax bill or estimated tax payments directly from a checking or savings account at no extra cost. On top of that, in light of all the recently hacked personal information databases, the IRS does not keep bank account information in their systems. Payments can also be changed or cancelled up to two business days before the actual payment due date.
If the Direct Pay option wasn’t enough to make life easier for taxpayers, the IRS has also introduced a mobile app by the name of IRS2Go. This handy app offers many useful attributes, such as the ability to track your refund status. A refund can be tracked within 24 hours after the IRS receives the return if it was filed electronically. On the other hand, if you file with a paper tax return, it may take around four weeks for you to be able to check your refund status. IRS2Go also gives access to IRS Direct Pay, along with the ability to make a credit or debit card payment through different payment processors.
Need help with tax preparation? IRS2Go offers assistance in finding IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Programs. Another great feature of the app is that it is available in English or Spanish.
Paying your taxes has never been easier and faster because of the new technology being taken advantage of by the IRS. If you need assistance with these apps or have other tax concerns, call Lescault & Walderman at 866-496-2042.
